Carpet Installation in Tomball

We install carpet that feels soft underfoot and stays flat for years, with the pad, seam layout and any removal work written out before we begin. You see the full scope on paper, so the price you agree to is the price you pay.

Soft floors, planned with care

Carpet is still the warmest, quietest choice for bedrooms, playrooms and upstairs living areas. How it feels in five years depends less on the brand on the sample than on what sits underneath it and how tightly it was stretched.

We measure each room, plan where the seams will fall and choose a pad that suits the carpet and the room. Then we put all of it in a written quote: the carpet yardage, the pad, tack strip, transitions, removal of your old flooring and any stairs. If something changes once the old carpet is up, we show you and talk it over before any added work.

What a carpet installation includes

Measuring and seam planning

Carpet comes off the roll in fixed widths, usually 12 feet, so we lay out each room to keep seams out of doorways and main walking paths. You see the layout and the yardage it requires before anything is ordered.

Tear-out and disposal

Your old carpet, the worn-out cushion beneath it and any tired tack strip come up and leave with our crew at the end of the day. If you plan to pull it up yourself, we simply drop that line from the price.

Pad matched to the carpet

Pad density and thickness change how carpet wears. A thick, soft pad under a low-profile Berber can let the backing flex and wrinkle, so we recommend what suits the carpet you picked and explain why.

Power-stretched installation

We stretch carpet across the room with a power stretcher, not just a knee kicker. A tight install resists the ripples and loose spots that show up on poorly stretched carpet a year or two later.

Seams and transitions

Seams are joined with heat-activated tape and pressed flat so the pile blends. Where carpet meets tile, hardwood or vinyl, we fit a transition that sits level and holds the edge.

Cleanup and walk-through

We vacuum, clear offcuts and walk the rooms with you before we leave.

Signs your carpet is ready to be replaced

Ripples that come back
Waves and humps usually mean the pad has broken down or the carpet was never stretched tightly. Restretching can help for a while, but worn pad lets it loosen again.
Matted traffic lanes
When the pile in hallways and in front of the sofa stays flat after cleaning, the fibers themselves are worn and will not spring back.
Odors that cleaning won't lift
Pet accidents and spills soak through to the pad and sometimes the slab. Surface cleaning reaches the fibers, not what lies below them.
Crunchy or thin pad
If the floor feels hard underfoot or you can hear the pad crackle, it has dried out and no longer cushions the carpet.
Fraying seams and edges
Seams that open or edges pulling off the tack strip tend to spread with every vacuuming.

How the work goes

  1. 1

    Walk-through and measurements

We visit your home, measure each room, check the floor and the doorways, and talk through carpet style, pad and how the rooms are used.

  2. 2

    Your written quote

You receive a document that lists every part of the job separately: carpet, pad, tack strip, transitions, removal, furniture moving and stairs if any. Nothing is added later without your say.

  3. 3

    Preparing the floor

On install day we remove the old carpet and pad, pull or replace damaged tack strip and sweep the subfloor clean. On concrete slabs, which most homes around Tomball sit on, we check for moisture and use fasteners rated for concrete.

  4. 4

    Installing and stretching

Pad goes down first, then the carpet is cut, seamed and power-stretched onto the tack strip. Most rooms in a typical home are done in a single day.

  5. 5

    Final check

We trim the edges, set the transitions, put back anything we moved where it's practical and go through each room with you.

What shapes the cost of new carpet

Carpet pricing has more parts than the price per yard on the sample tag. The written breakdown we give you splits the job into those parts, so you can see where the money goes and adjust before we start.

Room size and roll layout
Because carpet comes in fixed widths, an oddly shaped room can need more yardage than its square footage suggests. We show the layout so the extra is explained, not hidden.
Carpet and pad choice
Fiber, pile height and density move the carpet price, and pad ranges from basic rebond to denser or moisture-resistant options.
Removal and furniture
Taking up old carpet, hauling it away and moving heavy furniture each add time. Each is listed on its own line.
Stairs
Every step is cut and fitted by hand, so stairs are priced separately. If you are weighing a different material for the steps, our Stair Flooring page covers those options.
Floor condition and transitions
Uneven spots, damaged subfloor or several transitions to tile or vinyl add prep work. We note what we find and how it affects the price.

Carpet installation questions

Why am I paying for more carpet than the square footage of my room?
Carpet is cut from rolls of a set width, and pile has to run the same direction across a room. That means some waste at the edges and around closets. We show you the layout so you can see where the extra goes.
Do I need to move my furniture before you arrive?
You don't have to. We can move standard furniture and put it back, and that appears as its own line on your estimate. We ask that you clear small items, fragile pieces and anything inside dressers or cabinets beforehand.
Can carpet go over a concrete slab?
Yes, and it often does. We check the slab for moisture first, since dampness can lead to odor and mildew in the pad. Where moisture is a concern, we talk through a pad with a moisture barrier.
Will the seams show?
Most rooms wider than the roll need at least one seam. We place them away from doorways and lanes of traffic, and in the direction of the light where we can, so they are hard to spot once the pile settles.
How long until we can walk on the new carpet?
Right away. There is no glue to cure in a standard stretch-in installation. You may notice a new-carpet smell for a few days, and opening windows or running the HVAC fan helps it fade.
Is carpet tile a better fit for some rooms?
For game rooms, home offices or spaces prone to spills, carpet tile lets you replace a single square instead of a whole room. We cover it on our Carpet Tile page and can price both side by side.
