Luxury Vinyl Tile in Tomball
Luxury vinyl tile reads like stone or porcelain but feels warmer and quieter underfoot, and it asks for little more than a damp mop to keep clean. We plan the layout, prepare the floor beneath it and set out every part of the job in a written quote before we start.
A tile look without the cold, hard surface
Luxury vinyl tile, or LVT, comes in square and rectangular formats that read like natural stone, slate or porcelain. It is quieter to walk on than ceramic, it does not chip when a pan falls, and the better products shrug off water on the surface. That makes it a sensible choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and entries.
It is not the right floor for every room. Vinyl tile shows dips and ridges in the floor below it, so the slab or plywood has to be flat. It can also fade in a sunroom with no window treatment. We tell you plainly where it will do well in your home and where another option, such as tile flooring or luxury vinyl plank, may serve you better.
Before anything is ordered, you get a written quote that lists the material, the prep, the trim and the removal work. If we find something during the visit that changes the scope, it goes on paper then, not as a surprise on install day.

What your vinyl tile installation covers
- 01
Measuring and layout
We measure each room and plan where the tiles start so cut pieces at doorways and walls are not thin slivers. In larger rooms we center the pattern on the main sightline.
- 02
Removal of the old floor
Carpet, sheet vinyl or old ceramic comes up and leaves the house with us. Ceramic removal is listed as its own line because it takes longer and leaves mortar to grind down.
- 03
Subfloor preparation
High spots are ground and low spots are filled with leveling compound. Most vinyl tile products have a flatness limit, and meeting it is what keeps joints tight and edges from lifting.
- 04
Click-lock or glue-down install
Rigid-core vinyl tile clicks together and floats over the floor. Thinner glue-down tile is adhered directly to the subfloor and suits bathrooms and spaces with heavy rolling loads. We explain which one your product needs.
- 05
Trim, transitions and finish details
We fit transition strips where the floor meets carpet or another surface, and reinstall or replace baseboards and quarter round as agreed in writing. In bathrooms we pull and reset the toilet with a new wax ring.
- 06
Cleanup
Cut scraps, packaging and old flooring leave with us, and the new floor is swept and wiped down before we go.
Questions about Luxury Vinyl Tile?
Call(346) 708-5752Signs it may be time for luxury vinyl tile
Cracked or loose ceramic
Hollow-sounding tiles and broken grout lines often mean the old adhesion is failing. Vinyl tile can give you a similar look with more forgiveness underfoot.
Sheet vinyl that is peeling at the seams
Lifting seams near a tub or dishwasher let water reach the floor below. Replacing it with vinyl tile stops the problem from spreading.
A floor that feels cold and loud
Hard tile on a concrete slab can feel chilly and echo in an open room. Vinyl tile softens both.
Grout that never looks clean
If scrubbing grout has become a weekend chore, a vinyl tile with tight joints cuts that work down to a quick mop.
Worn-through finish in busy rooms
Older vinyl that shows the backing in front of the sink or at the back door has lost its wear layer and will only get worse.
How a vinyl tile job runs
- 1
Phone conversation
You tell us the rooms, what is down now and the look you have in mind. We set a time to come measure.
- 2
Visit and moisture check
We measure, check the floor for flatness, and test concrete slabs for moisture, which matters in our humid Gulf Coast climate. Then you get a written quote with each item listed.
- 3
Acclimation and prep
The vinyl tile sits in your home so it adjusts to room temperature. On install day we remove the old floor and level the subfloor.
- 4
Installation
Tiles go down from the planned starting line, with expansion gaps left at the walls for floating floors. Most rooms are finished in a day or two.
- 5
Walkthrough
We fit the trim, clean up and walk the floor with you. You can usually walk on a click-lock floor right away; glue-down floors need a short wait before heavy furniture returns.
What shapes the price of vinyl tile
Vinyl tile pricing depends far more on the room and the floor beneath it than on the product alone. We look at all of it during the visit and list each part in writing, so you can see where the money goes and decide on options before work starts.
- Product and wear layer
- A thicker wear layer and a rigid core cost more but stand up better in kitchens and entries. Groutable vinyl tile adds a grouting step and its own material.
- Condition of the subfloor
- A flat slab needs little work. Cracks, dips or old adhesive add grinding and leveling time.
- What comes up first
- Pulling carpet is quick. Breaking out ceramic tile and its mortar bed takes much longer and creates more debris to haul off.
- Layout and room shape
- Diagonal patterns, large formats and rooms with many corners or cabinets mean more cuts and more waste material.
- Trim and fixtures
- New baseboards, stair nosing at a step down, and toilet resets in bathrooms are each listed so nothing gets added later.
Questions about luxury vinyl tile
What is the difference between luxury vinyl tile and luxury vinyl plank?
They are made the same way. Vinyl tile comes in square or rectangular formats with a stone or ceramic look, while plank comes in long boards that imitate wood. If you want a wood look instead, see our luxury vinyl plank page.
Can vinyl tile go over my existing ceramic tile?
Sometimes. If the old tile is firmly attached and flat, we can skim the grout lines and float new vinyl tile over it. If tiles are loose or cracked, they need to come up, and we will tell you which case you have during the visit.
Is luxury vinyl tile waterproof?
Most rigid-core products resist water on the surface well, which is why they work in bathrooms and kitchens. Standing water can still find its way under the edges, so we seal around tubs and toilets where the product calls for it.
Can it be grouted to look like real tile?
Some vinyl tile is made to accept a flexible grout, which gives a very convincing ceramic look. It adds a step and a little cost, and we show it as its own line on paper.
How long does the installation take?
A bathroom or laundry room is often done in a day. A kitchen and adjoining rooms may take two or three, depending on how much leveling the floor needs.
